Although the principles of compatibility are not being discussed here, other important points of interest to one and all have been explained in this note. • Mars signifies sex and husband for females.
  • Venus signifies sex & wife for males.
  • Conjunction in Kendras or 12th house indicates love marriage or inter-caste marriage. If conjoined or aspected by Saturn or Rahu, it is inter-religion marriage.
  • Conjunction in 3rd or 4th house, marriage may be solemnized in the same building. If 2nd house, 9th house, 5th house, 10th house, 6th house, 11th house, 7th house 12th house is occupied by benefic Rasis 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 12 and one benefic planet (Jupiter, Venus, Moon, Mercury) occupies in any of the above houses & rest of the three benefic planets cast the benefic influence on that house, the fever of love & romance influences those natives in young age. But love & romance fails, if it involves separative planets, Sun, Saturn, Rahu or 12th Lordís influence on that house.
  • Jupiter placed in Quadrants (Kendras), the last rites will be performed by son, signifying marriage and birth of a male child.
  • Timing of Marriage
  • Watch Saturn in transit in Navamsa chart in 9th house or aspecting the 9th house or the Lord of 9th in the natal chart, where it is placed in Navamsa chart. Saturnís transit in that house or aspect on that house causes marriage. This gives favourble period of 2 1/2 years for marriage. And the 13-month period is obtained by adding Ascendant degree + 7th lord degree, the resultant house becomes a sensitive house for marriage, when Jupiterís transits over that sensitive house degree, causes marriage.
  • Ascendant Lord degree + 7th lord degree, the resultant house gives similar indication for marriage.
  • Moon sign lord degree, seventh sign from the Rasi Lord degree, similar formula to derive the period of marriage
  • Lord of 5th or 8th in the 7th makes a widow or widower.
  • 7th Lord in the 5th house makes you sonless or spouse less. In the above two cases, the effective remedy is that the house should not be corner or next to corner. See the position of the 10th Lord from the seventh house to determine about the place of would be spouse. Its placement in various houses gives indication of the would be spouse.

Compatibility for the Purpose of Marriage
The Eight Factors which must be analysed critically to ensure perfect compatibility for a happy married life are:

    1  Varna
    2  Vashy
    3  Tara
    4  Yoni
    5  Graha Maitri
    6  Gana
    7  Bhakot
    8  Nadi

    • Bhakuta Dosh is the 7th test of marriage compatibility which is also known by the name of Rasi kuta. For this aspect, emphasis is laid on the basis of the compatibility considering Rasis as well as the constellations of the couple. In other words, the Moon sign of the boy and girl, and their placement in the two charts is of utmost importance determining this test.

    • There are 12 Rasis and 27 constellations. Each Rasi consists, therefore, of 2 ľ constellations. To avoid the fraction, the ancient sages divided the Nakshatra into 4 parts or 4 Padas of Nakshatras, which occupy the parts of two Rasis. Aries has 4 Padas of Aswini, 4 of Bharani and one of Krittika. Taurus has 3 Padas of Kritika, 4 of Rohini and 2 of Mrigisras. This process continues with other constellations.

As a result of the above, the following circumstances may arise:-

    • Rasi and Nakshatra of the bride groom may be the same.

    • Rasi may be the same, but Nakshatras may differ. The Rasi may be Aries, but the Nakshatras may be Aswani and Bharani.

    • The Nakshatra may be the same, but Rasi may be different. The Nakshatra may be first and second padas of Kritika. The Nakshatra remaining the same, the Rasis are different. The one has Aries and the other Taurus.

    • The Rasi and even the Padas of the Nakshatra re the same. Both may have the first pada of Kritika. Here the 1st Pada of Kritika falls in Aries. Thus Rasi and pada of the Nakshatra are the same.

    • The rules of this test are: It would be good compatibility if both the partners have same Rasi and the same Nakshatra, but the padas of Nakshatra should be different in each case.

    • The exception here is that none of the partners should have Rohini, Ardra, Pushya, Magha, Visakha, Sravana Uttra Bhadra or Revati. If that is the case, the evils of having the same Nakshatra are not of much impediment.

    • The Rasis of the partners should not be posited at a mutual position of 2-12. If the Rasis are Aries and Taurus, the former is 12th from the later and the later is 2nd from the former. The position should be avoided. This leads to financial strains & instability. Here, however, there are again some exceptions.

    • If the Rasi of the bride is 12th from the Rasi of the groom, the same is acceptable, because in this case the bride will be cared by her husband and also this would add to the wealth & happiness of the family

    • Following Rasis even though 2-12 to each other are recommended: Pisces and Aries, Taurus and Gemini, Cancer and Leo, Virgo and Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius, and Capricorn and Aquarius. In Muhurta Martand, the Leo and Virgo Rasis are also quite auspicious.

    • The Rasis mutually 3-11 are always highly auspicious. This is as per Jyotirnibandha.

    • The mutual position of 4-10 of the Rasis is also auspicious, but there are exceptions. In the case of the following groups, which are 4-10 but are inauspicious: Libra-Capricorn, Taurus-Leo, Aries-Cancer, Gemini-Pisces, Sagittarius-Virgo and Aquarius-Scorpio.

    • If Rasis are 5-9, the couple may be prone to suffer from the loss of children. Otherwise, it is good. If the Rasi of the bride is 9th to the Rasi of the bridegroom, it is auspicious.

    • NOTE: This position should be accepted only when the Rasis of the bride and groom are not inimical. Amongst the 5-9 Rasis, the following 4 groups should be avoided: (i) Pisces-Cancer (ii) Scorpio-Cancer (iii) Aquarius-Gemini and (iv) Capricorn-Virgo.

    • The groups of Aries-Leo, Taurus-Virgo, Gemini-Libra, Cancer-Scorpio, Leo-Sagittarius, Libra-Aqaurius, Scorpio-Pisces, Sagittarius-Aries and Capricorn-Taurus are acceptable

    • If the Rasi of the male is 6-8 to the Rasi of female, it should be avoided. This may adversely affect the longevity of the couple. Aries-Scorpio, Taurus-Libra, Gemini-Capricorn, Cancer-Sagittarius, Leo-Pisces and Virgo-Capricorn are acceptable. Their relationship is termed as cordial and conducive to understanding. If the couple has the same Tara, friendly Rasis, or the same lordship, the 6-8 position of Rasis may be ignored. Among the so many gunas mentioned, if any one of them tallies, then the rule applies. It is advisable that the Rasis are not inimical to each other. If the Rasis of the male and female are 7th to each other, they are auspicious even though their lords are inimical to each other. Here again, a learned astrologer has opined that Cancer-Capricorn and Leo-Capricorn relationship should be avoided.

    • For example a person with Moon in Taurus should not be matched with the person with Moon in Aries or Gemini. This indicates that one of the two partners will be spendthrift. The Bhakut consideration as also Nadi consideration does not apply in the case of non-Brahmins. Bhakut throws light on the growth of the family and offspring. If in the compatibility chart, this Dosh does not give positive indications, it would portend some delay in progeny, which may be due to resorting to family planning or some other reasons that arise due to the problems of working couples or where husband/wife have perforce to live at different stations, away from each other, due to some compulsions. As regards the Nadi Dosh, which is applicable mainly for Brahmins, which may cause some major ill-luck to the family, it is advisable to avoid such combinations for the purpose of marriage, and Nadi considerations, if acceptable, would add to the good health, happiness & prosperity of the couple.

    • Where the Nadi of the couple happens to be same, the Nadi Dosh operates. It is, therefore, better that the girlís star and boyís star do not belong to the same Nadi Group. It is interesting to note that in South India, where we have great research scholars, Nadi considerations are not given any weightage in matching of birth charts.

    • The boyís star birth counting from the girlís star should be any one of the following to secure this highly auspicious yoga, which adds to the coupleís happiness, long life, prosperity, prosperity of the children as also growth: 4th 7th, 10th, 13, 16th, 19th, 22 & 25.

    • Love marriages need not strictly comply with matching requirements.

    • It is said Marriages are made in heaven and performed on earth. The cosmic influences do have an impact on the marital bliss of one and all. Astrology and the astro-sciences which are perfect sciences have proved beyond doubt that the cosmos has tremendous impact on all aspects of life including marital happiness.

    • Although in Vedic Astrology, we take into account the impact of the nine planets or Grahas in delineating the planetary influences, in Western Astrology, we take into account the impact of the extra Saturnine, planets like Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. The extra Saturnine planets, if associated with the 7th or the 8th house of the birth chart do have significant impact on the marriage prospects, as also other influences which can make or mar the prospects of a happy marital life. Uranusí influence on the 7th or 8th house introduces sudden and unexpected developments with regard to married life.

    • In ancient times, marriages were performed at a very early age. In the case of a girl, she would get married even before attaining the age of 18 years. These days due to the inroads of modernization and Western Culture and awakening among the fairer sex, marriages are generally solemnized between the age of 25 to 30 in the case of males, and 20-25 in the case of females. Divorce and remarriage, which was unknown earlier, are becoming very common these days. Astrology may offer effective remedies for the ills of the society and particularly for maladjustment among the married partners. If the two birth charts are matched scientifically and perfectly by an experienced astrologer, there are least chances of marriage going on the rocks. A well placed Mars in a female chart and a well-placed Venus in a male horoscope ensures harmony between the spouses.

    • Mars is more concerned with passion than with sex. In the case of those afflicted with Mangilk Dosh, such natives should not marry in haste. However, this advice is not applicable in the case of love marriage or in the case of remarriage for divorcees/widows. A good astrologer will invariably check whether the longevity factor of both the male and female are strong. It is also necessary to see, whether Jupiter & Venus, the two significations for marital happiness and domestic bliss, are strong or reasonably well placed. In the case of males, Venus is very important, while in the case of females, both Jupiter and Venus should have adequate strength.

    • One must use reason and discrimination in choosing oneís partner. A successful marriage is possible only when thereís compatibility on 4 fronts: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. The study of planets and compatibility charts provide us with effective tools to study the basic temperament of a couple, their relative strengths and weaknesses. If this Astro-guidance is gained from seasoned astrologers, it would enable you to choose the best companion under any given circumstances to obtain true love, happiness and spiritual bonding.
